MIDDLETOWN POLICE MAKE ARREST REGARDING UNTERMAN HOMICIDE
August 3, 2009


An arrest has been made regarding the shooting death of Robert Unterman. On August 1, 2009, the City of Middletown Police Department made an arrest in the shooting death of Robert Unterman and the assault on Antonio Ramos which occurred in the early morning hours of August 30, 2008. Jose Antonio Bonilla, age 25, of 30 East Main Street Middletown, NY has been charged with Murder in the 2nd degree, an A-1 Felony. Bonilla has been arraigned and is currently being held without bail.

The arrest of Bonilla comes as a result of the ongoing investigation conducted by the City of Middletown Police Department in conjunction with the New York State Police. Nearly one year after this tragic event, an arrest of this magnitude reminds us that cooperation from the public and the hard work and dedication by countless investigators. Chief Matthew Byrne was pleased with the arrest. Chief Byrne stated, “I commend the Middletown Detectives and State Police Investigators for their diligence in making an arrest. I hope that it will bring some measure of comfort to the Unterman family and Middletown community.”
