August 6, 2009 Jose A. Guadalupe, age 26, of 252 East Main Street, in Middletown was arrested Wednesday by Middletown detectives and charged with Murder in the second degree. Jose Bonilla, age 25, also of Middletown, was arrested earlier this week and charged with Unterman’s murder. Due to previous multiple felony convictions, both defendants are being held at Orange County Jail without bail. They have been charged with Murder in the second degree committed in the course of a robbery. Additional charges are pending Grand Jury action. On August 30, 2008, Robert Unterman and Antonio Ramos were both shot while walking near the intersection of Prince Street and Montgomery Street. The homicide investigation revealed that they were targeted for a robbery by both defendants. Two handguns, both 22 caliber semi-automatic pistols, have been recovered. Sergeant Francis Graziano credited the arrests with Middletown Detectives and New York State Police Investigators “never losing focus on the case.” Chief Matthew Byrne stated, “The arrest of Mr. Guadalupe and Mr. Bonilla was no easy task. Meticulous investigatory teamwork made this case. Unlike television, police can’t always make arrests for murder in just a few hours or days. We owed it to the Unterman family not to quit.”
