STANDOFF ENDS PEACEFULLY September 9, 2009 The City of Middletown Police Department peacefully ended an incident in which a woman barricaded herself in her apartment armed with a rifle. The woman had made threats of using the weapon against her home nursing aid. Middletown Police responded to Middlecrest Crossing an apartment complex at 74 Uhlig Rd at 10:16 this morning in response to a 911 call of a woman with a rifle. Middletown Police and New York State Police negotiators were able to convince the woman to surrender to members of the Middletown Police Tactical Response Team. She was taken into custody without incident and transported to Orange Regional Medical Center for a medical and Psychiatric evaluation. The woman told police that she believed that she was being poisoned and did not want to hurt anyone just scare the home nursing aid. Middletown Police were assisted by the New York State Police and tactical medics from Mobile Life Support Services.
