POLICE INVESTIGATING ASSAULT

City of Middletown Police are investigating an assault that occurred early Saturday morning that has left a Middletown man in serious condition. The New York State Police are assisting in the investigation.

The victim, an 18 year old resident of Middletown, was assaulted at approximately 2:25 am Saturday morning outside of the Perla Escondida Mexican Restaurant at 133 Wickham Ave. After the assault the victim left with friends. At approximately 3:50am the victim was brought to Orange Regional Medical Center by a friend. He was later transferred to Westchester Medical Center in Valhalla.

The victim is listed in serious condition with a significant head injury.

“Middletown Police Detectives and New York State Police Investigators are working diligently together on this felony assault, said Middletown Police Chief Matthew Byrne. “They are following up on many leads and conducting interviews.”
