ASSAULT VICTIM DIES October 19, 2009 The victim of an assault on October 10 has died as a result of his injuries. The victim was removed from life support equipment at Westchester Medical Center on Saturday. The victim, Juan Carlos-Garcia, 18, of 27 Knapp Ave Middletown, was assaulted at approximately 2:25 am October 10 outside of the Perla Escondida Mexican Restaurant at 133 Wickham Ave. After the assault the victim left with friends. At approximately 3:50am the victim was brought to Orange Regional Medical Center by a friend. He was later transferred to Westchester Medical Center in Valhalla. “Unfortunately, Mr. Garcia did not survive the assault, said Middletown Police Chief Matthew Byrne. “This is our first homicide for 2009. We have many Middletown Detectives and State Police Investigators working running down various leads. Any information the public may have would be greatly appreciated.” The New York State Police is assisting in the investigation.
