The City of Middletown Police Department presents the D.A.R.E. (Drug Abuse Resistance Education) Program to over 500 5th grade students every year. The D.A.R.E. Program is taught by Officer Jacqueline Welch.

The D.A.R.E. program teaches the students how to resist drugs, tobacco and alcohol; how to stand up against negative peer pressure; internet safety; and how to resist and avoid violent situations. This unique program uses uniformed law enforcement officers to teach a formal curriculum to students in a classroom setting. The program also allows Officer Welch to work with children to help raise their self-esteem, teach them how to make decisions on their own, and help them identify positive alternatives to drugs and violence.

Officer Welch has been with the City of Middletown Police Department for seven years and was certified as a D.A.R.E. Instructor in 2009. Officer Welch can be reached via email at jwelch@middletownpolice.com or by calling 845-346-4013.

The event is filled with fun, games and information for children and families.

We are currently seeking sponsors and/or donations for the event. There are a few options available to sponsor the event. If you would like to have a table at the event, please contact Officer Welch to register.
